En musique, la tessiture d'une voix ou d'un instrument désigne l'ensemble des notes qu’un musicien, chanteur ou instrumentiste, est capable d'émettre facilement, depuis le grave, jusqu'à l'aigu. La tessiture et le timbre servent à classer les voix et certains instruments par catégories ou familles.

Le mot « tessiture » doit être soigneusement distingué du mot ambitus, qui lui, désigne l'étendue totale (tessiture plus notes extrêmes) d'une voix, d'un instrument ou d'une partie musicale.
