Michael Walzer (13 Mars 1935 - ) est un philosophe de société qui a beaucoup travaillé sur des domaines tels que la politique, l'éthique, mais aussi la justice. Il travaille actuellement comme professeur à « Institute for Advanced Study » à Princeton. Il a écrit sur un grand nombre de sujets; la notion de guerre juste, le nationalisme, ethnicité, justice distributive, critique (sociale), le radicalisme, la tolérance et la politique.
En dehors de son travail académique, Michael Walzer est co-éditeur en chef de la revue Dissent, une revue américaine, et contribue à The New Republic.
Il est membre de plusieurs associations philosophiques tels que l'American Philosophical Society.

Etudes
En 1956 Walzer est diplomé d'histoire. De (1956-1957), il étudia à l'université de Cambridge et termina son doctorat en philosophie à Harvard qu'il obtint en 1961.
Occupations professionnelles
Walzer a été le premier professeur engagé à l'université de princeton en 1962. Il y resta jusqu'en 1966 lorsqu'il partit pour Harvard. Il y enseigna jusqu'en 1980. Il devint par la suite membre permanent de la faculté de sciences sociales à Institute for Advanced Study.
